Reflecting Glory

June 30th, 2014

Sorry about my June Swoon and the decrease in posts over the last few weeks.  Part of it was planned and part of it was just well, what it was.  But anyway, here it is the last day of June and Summer is in full tilt.  It’s a great time of year as everything is blooming and basting in the glory of the sun.  Which reminds we of these words from 2 Corinthians.

2 Corinthians 3:18

New International Version (NIV)

18 And we all, who with unveiled faces reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

Crazy Math

June 26th, 2014

Here is some crazy math I was studying this morning.

Jesus + Nothing = Everything

This is a life changing formula when we believe it to be true.

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.  John 15:5 (NIV)

There’s really nothing else we need.

Mind your Path

June 24th, 2014

Here’s a small bit of advice that goes a long way.

Walk with the wise and become wise,
for a companion of fools suffers harm. Proverbs 13:20

Make sure you mind your path today and watch who you are walking with.  The wise will help you, the fools will eventually surround you with harm!

Love this quote I just read this morning from the quotable Spurgeon.

“There is hardship in everything except eating pancakes.”

Yeah, I guess so.  So lets choose easy days of pancakes or expecting the hard junk that comes with the rest of life.  Expect it, embrace it and make it work.

If we endure, we will also reign with him;  2 Timothy 2:12

June 20th, 2014

Last night the boys and I went to see “Edge of Tomorrow”.  I had previously sworn off Tom Cruise movies, so I was quite surprised when his face showed up in the first minute. Argh.  I really had no idea what I was about to see.  So, without spoiling this movie, it’s basically Groundhog Day with guns.  Not bad, but I wish I hadn’t broken my Tom Cruise avoidance vow! 🙂

Despite that, it did make me wonder if there was a day in my life that I wish I could have lived over and over until I got it right.  It’s an interesting and thought-provoking question, which at this point has no answer for me.  Maybe I will get to live today over and over until I have an answer?

How about you?  Is there a day in your life that you wish you could redo and redo until you reach the proper conclusion?

In the real world, we have no time controlling aliens to reset time. It just marches forward.   So as we say every Friday, take a marble out and spend it wisely this weekend.  You really only get one shoot at June 21 and 22 2014.  No redos or resets.  Get to work!

13 Relent, Lord! How long will it be?
    Have compassion on your servants.
14 Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love,
that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.
15 Make us glad for as many days as you have afflicted us,
for as many years as we have seen trouble.
16 May your deeds be shown to your servants,
    your splendor to their children.

17 May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us;
establish the work of our hands for us—
yes, establish the work of our hands. Ps 90 NIV
