Trust the Rock

November 24th, 2014

They say what’s in your mind comes out, and this morning I the idea of trust keeps swimming around in my mind.  Apparently, it’s been a topic of mine for the last couple of years.   Anyway, this morning this particular verse from Isaiah is hanging around, providing strength and encouragement to me as I get the day started.  Hope it helps you as well.

4 Trust in the Lord forever,
for the Lord, the Lord himself, is the Rock eternal. Isaiah 26:4 (NIV)

There’s always something to getting out and actually doing things – the right things!

For merely listening to the law doesn’t make us right with God. It is obeying the law that makes us right in his sight. Romans 2:13 NLT

The Sacrifice of Praise

November 19th, 2014

Last night I spent a few minutes, and I say few because of the temperature, looking at the stars in the sky.  That is one great thing about cold clear winter nights – you can see so many stars! What a wonderful humbling sight!

And then for some reason, I woke up with this little tune in my head this morning

For the beauty of the earth,
For the beauty of the skies,
For the Love which from our birth
Over and around us lies:

Yep the old Pierpoint hymn that we all know and love.   I guess it could also be because Thanksgiving is upon us.

Anyway, it’s a good little hymn to have playing in the back of your head while the day goes on, and here is a nice pleasant version that I found online this morning.

Lord of all to thee we raise this our hymn of grateful praise!

“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of His glory.” (Isaiah 6:3)

Small to Epic!

November 18th, 2014

I logged on to Twitter yesterday, and this is what I saw at the top of my feed!!

Even Wendy’s is cheer for us to succeed!

Really, I am not sure why this struck me as funny, and odd and good all at the same time.  I guess it’s because I don’t expect to have a fast food restaurant cheer me on to success in life.  Also, I am not exactly sure how they can make our achievements epic, but still I like the idea of celebrating the little victories.  They add up. They increase our confidence and they make us better!

So, get out there, inch by inch, and maybe Wendy can make it epic!  I might still get my BBQ pork from some place else however!
